Strategic Plan Executive Summary
The new Ivy Tech strategic plan, "Accelerating Greatness 2013," strives to build on the success the College has enjoyed in recent years and make improvements where needed. The ultimate goal of this effort is encapsulated in our new vision statement:
Changing Lives. Making Indiana Great.
At the center of Accelerating Greatness 2013 are four strategies that will guide our resource allocation and decision making process:
Ivy Tech Community College will track its progress in Accelerating Greatness through a series of outcome indicators—and you can follow along by visiting IvyTech.edu/AcceleratingGreatness. In addition to measuring greatness according to our past performance, the College will seek to meet or exceed the standards set by our peers in Indiana and throughout the U.S. The ultimate objective of all the strategies implemented for accelerating greatness will be consistent with the Ivy Tech Community College mission and vision.

Strategy 1: Ensure That Students Achieve Their Educational Goals
The success of each student who enrolls at Ivy Tech Community College is the primary focus of our faculty and staff. We strive to welcome all students in a way that positions them for success, guides them through their progress in a way that helps them overcome obstacles along the way, and keeps them focused on completion in a way that encourages them to excel. Whether their goal is a career, transfer to a four-year college, or just the satisfaction of attaining a college degree, certificate or certification, Ivy Tech is committed to giving them every opportunity to thrive—and giving them the skills they need to Make Indiana Great.
Strategy 2: Ensure That Indiana Citizens, Workforce, And Businesses Are Globally Competitive
Today's business environment is more competitive than ever. As a result, Indiana needs a world-class workforce to help businesses succeed and to recruit and retain jobs. In serving as the fuel that drives Indiana's economic engine, Ivy Tech works with employers to determine what skills they need from their employees, while also providing training that meets a variety of needs—everything from customized training and short-term certification programs to associate degrees that result in jobs where people are needed most and that transfer to four-year colleges and universities. By ensuring that our classes and training are relevant to every rung on the career ladder, Ivy Tech is helping Indiana keep pace with the global economy.
Strategy 3 Ensure Optimal Quality And Efficiencies Statewide
At Ivy Tech, we believe quality and efficiency are inexorably linked. In order to provide those we serve with unmatched programs, products, and services, it is imperative that we eliminate waste, red tape, and the types of duplicated efforts that conceal best practices. As a large organization with a complex mission, Ivy Tech must leverage technology and be agile enough to adapt to a variety of needs, while ensuring an optimal deployment of resources. The degree to which we are a good steward of these resources is not, therefore, just a measure of our efficiency; it is also a measure of quality.
Strategy 4: Ensure An Adequate And Sustainable Resource Base
Ivy Tech Community College has traditionally relied on three sources of funding: student tuition and fees, grants and charitable contributions, and allocations from the Indiana legislature. Because of the vital role we play in strengthening Indiana's workforce, we continue to be a priority in the state's budget. However, with unprecedented competition for these dollars, annual increases in state funding are not nearly proportional to our growth - nor are they likely to be in the future. In order for us to continue to offer the state's most affordable tuition, therefore, we must become more self-sufficient. This will require more shared services College-wide and better connectivity with external stakeholders. In order for Ivy Tech to continue to meet a broad base of needs for training and education, we must continue to demonstrate that contributions to the College are an investment that provides an unparalleled rate of return.
