Accounting for Non-Accountants

This course is designed for individuals with little or no background in accounting but have a need for general knowledge of the field. Intended as a quick overview of basic accounting and bookkeeping, this course is recommended for students who manage small operations, are self-employed, or work in small corporate departments.  The course is recommended as a prerequisite to QuickBooks.

Students will have opportunity to ask questions, research on the Internet, and discuss real-life situations with small business owners. An accounting software package also will be explored at the end of the course.

  • Analyze financial statement and reports
  • Differentiate between types of accounts
  • Understand owners capital, assets and liabilities
