This course prepares students for an entry-level paralegal position. Students will be paired with an instructor for one-on-one assistance, and will be provided access to the seven prep exam courses offered at the NALA Campus.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to
- Define a paralegal, their duties, common employers, and a typical work environment
- Classify how the American legal system is structured and how it operates
- Explain how paralegals perform legal analysis, legal interview and legal research
- Identify the legal investigation process and what makes a good witness
- Trace the duties of a litigation assistant in the four stages of litigation
- Describe the guidelines and proper etiquette for legal writing
- Discuss office administration and the importance of computers in the modern law office
