This course is approved by the Indiana Real Estate Commission for the mandatory hours for appraisal licensing. After successful completion of this course and the USPAP program, students will receive an Ivy Tech certificate which will allow them to sit for the state exam.  The fundamentals will define and open discussion on the basics of appraising to include standards, markets, analysis, finance and concepts related to the industry.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to

• Understand the basic principles of real estate appraising and relate those principles to practice
• Discuss the valuation process and the influences on real estate value
• Apply the income capitalization method
• Describe cost, sales comparison and income and show how they can be applied to appraising and adjustments
• Comprehend statistical and mathematical concepts related to appraisal
