Animal Assisted Therapy
Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is being incorporated into almost every profession that serves the public in order to help people grieve losses, connect with others in healthier ways, learn new life skills, facilitate anger management, engage clients in goal-setting, and to motivate learning and recovery. This course is directed to the professional or student in mental health/behavioral management fields who is interested in learning about AAT; appropriate populations for the use of AAT (and those that are not), program designs of successful AAT programs, and animal selection criteria for AAT work.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

• Identify the behavioral outcomes of AAT

• Identify the standards/regulations for implementing an AAT program

• Create a Program Planning Model for the use of AAT

TRAINING DESCRIPTION

The training will include the following instructional methods: lecture, slides, handouts, Q&A, video, panel, demonstration, small group work, and large group sharing.

HOURS AND COST

Your Animal Assisted Therapy course includes 7.5 contact hours of training for up to 11 participants. With successful completion of the 7.5 hour course, 7 hours of Approved Category I Continuing Education credit for mental health professionals will be awarded as well as 0.7 IACET Approved CEUs. Pricing includes training administration, instruction, class handouts, certificate of completion, and an activity evaluation at the conclusion of training.
