Drywall - Installation and Finishing

This is a hands-on course for those interested in completing a home improvement project in a professional manner.  The course will include the proper installation of drywall and the “tricks of the trade” to a smooth attractive finish.   The use of both hand and power tools will be covered.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Properly unload and handle drywall
  • Measure, cut and break drywall using a variety of hand tools that include, but are not limited to, box cutters, drywall square, square, level etc.
  • Install drywall using hammer and nails as well as drill and screws
  • Introduce the student to more expensive and innovative methods of hanging drywall
  • Explain the uses of drywall for different applications
  • Review the different sizes of drywall available as well as the different installation options
  • Mud and tape the installed drywall, inside corner beads and outside corner beads (this will include the proper use of various hand tools)
  • Review the professional high speed tools that are available as a more costly option
  • Learn how to apply mud and tape to nail/screw holes, Tope joints of both butt and flush, outside corners and inside corners
  • Install various types of outside and inside corner beads
  • Repair hole in drywall
  • Demonstrate the need for and the proper use of sanding tools

TRAINING DESCRIPTION AND MATERIALS

This course is instructor led, with hands-on exercises.  Various hand-outs and selected videos are used to support instruction.

HOURS

Your Drywall – Installation & Finishing course is a 9-hour training activity, scheduled at your convenience for up to a maximum of 10 participants.  0.9 IACET approved CEU’s will be awarded upon successful completion of the course.  Pricing includes training administration, instruction, class handouts, and materials, training consumables, and an activity evaluation at the conclusion of training.
