EPA Refrigerant Certification
This seminar is for those who are seeking certification in refrigerant handling in accordance with the Federal Clean Air Act Section 608. Upon completion of this two-day training seminar, the certification examination will be given. Participants may also sign up for the test only.

EPA REFRIGERANT CERTIFICATION EXAMS

  • Core - General practice and principles that must be mastered for any certification
  • Type 1 - For technicians who primarily service household appliances
  • Type 2 - High or very high pressure appliances or appliances that use more than five pounds of charge. For technicians who install and service systems that use low pressure refrigerant such as HCFC 22. These include household split system air conditioners
  • Type 3 - For technicians who install and service systems that use a low pressure refrigerant such as CFC 11
  • Universal Certification - Pass all four sections and get your Universal Certification which allows you to work on any or all systems included in the first three types

TRAINING DESCRIPTION

A concentrated and comprehensive review of EPA Standards and Requirements for refrigerant handling and safe practices in the workplace, the EPA Refrigerant Certification Review will prepare the technician for Section 608 certification to service air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Exam preparatory manuals are provided to students and are utilized during the training. Attendees learn about topics that are presented on the exam and a practice test is given to students so they may prepare for actual EPA test questions. Helpful hints are also given to students about test taking in general to help ease their apprehension about the exam.

As a final measure, participants will take one of four EPA Refrigerant Certification Exams to consist of CORE, Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3.

If all four tests are completed successfully, the student will receive their Universal Certification.

HOURS

The EPA Refrigerant Certification Review & Exam workshop is a 16 hour activity for up to 12 participants. 1.6 IACET Approved CEUs will be awarded with the successful completion of the 16 hour workshop. Pricing includes training administration, instruction, participant exam, exam preparation materials, and an activity evaluation at the conclusion of training.
