HVAC Excellence Commercial Refrigeration

The HVAC Excellence Certifications are recognized nationally as the leaders in the field of certification and education. This certification allows for the learner to prove mastery in the subject of Commercial Refrigeration. The training in this module will review the basics of safety and the refrigeration system as it relates to commercial refrigeration and progress to cover the learners understanding and application of the latest technology used in the industry today.

Upon the successful completion of the training and testing the learner will be awarded the HVAC Excellence Refrigeration Certification

Benefits to your organization

-Minimize accidents.

-Increase productivity.

-Upgrade existing skill sets.

-Decreases costs associated with downtime.

-Decrease costs associated with misdiagnosis.

-Improved professionalism and retention.

Course objectives

-Demonstrate safe practices and procedures.

-Describe the application and function of specialized commercial refrigeration       components covered in the course (both electrical controls as well as refrigeration flow controls).

-Identify common mechanical and electrical controls found on commercial A/C and refrigeration systems covered in this course.

-Describe electric defrost systems and the function of the system components.

-Describe hot gas defrost systems and the function of the system components.

-Analyze operating conditions of medium and low temperature refrigeration systems.

-Adjust the superheat setting of a thermostatic expansion valve.

-Apply the refrigeration cycle to the operation of commercial refrigeration equipment.

-Outline various different methods for charging commercial refrigeration systems having either air-cooled or water-cooled condensers.

-Determine cut-in and cut-out pressure settings for pressure controls for direct temperature control, pump down and condenser fan cycling.

-Compare and contrast the different designs of commercial ice machines covered in this course.

-Describe the different means of low ambient control covered in this course.

-Explain the requirements for evaporator coil TD for low temperature commercial refrigeration, and high humidity and general purpose medium temperature storage. [TD = EAT – BP where EAT is evaporator entering air temperature and BP is evaporator refrigerant boiling point temperature.]

Training description and materials

This instructor led course, with text and available internet resources will focus on the commercial refrigeration side of HVAC/R. In the course the learner will be receiving training on medium and low temperature refrigeration and its application in today’s refrigeration industry. New controls and techniques will be explored and the learner will come away with a much better understanding of  processes and procedures and be able to demonstrate this understanding in the lab portion of the course with hands on application.
