HVAC Excellence Oil Heat

The HVAC Excellence®, HVAC Heat Pump Certification is a nationally recognized certification. This training will allow for HVAC technicians, facilities maintenance personnel etc. to gain skills and knowledge that will allow for the individual to prove mastery in the area of heat pumps as they relate to HVAC.

This course will provide for the learner an understanding and application of the newest technologies that are being implemented into heat pumps. We will cover safety and theory and progress through the course to understand the latest advances in heat pumps and geo-thermal systems operation and troubleshooting. Much of the course includes hands demonstration of competencies covered.

The training will culminate in the awarding of the HVAC Excellence ® Heat Pump certification upon the successful completion of the training and testing.

Course objectives

Upon successful completion of this course the learner will be able to:

- Demonstrate safe practice and procedures.

- Describe the operation of mechanical and electronic controls associated with heat pumps.

- Effectively read and use pictorial diagrams, schematics and ladder diagrams to troubleshoot and understand the operational sequence of heat pumps.

- Troubleshoot common mechanical and electronic controls, loads and power supplies commonly found in heat pump equipment.

- Understand and diagram the refrigeration cycle as it relates to the heat pump in bothe the heat and the cooling mode.

- Explain in detail the different defrost options available in the heat pump market.

- Understand and be able to troubleshoot controls, t-stats, and supplemental heat that is associated with heat pump operation.

- Heat pump sizing considerations.

- Methods for checking the charge and charging heat pumps.  

Training description and materials

This instructor led course with reference text, focuses in part on the study and application of  heat pumps and in particular its application to the HVAC/R trade. We will cover the integration of mechanical and electronic controls in heat pump equipment. Testing of circuits and components and reading schematic and pictorial diagrams that will allow for the learner to gain confidence in his or her abilities in the troubleshooting of heat pumps and supplemental heat equipment. This course will focus on the learner and his or her ability to demonstrate competencies in the area of heat pump specialty culminating with certification by HVAC Excellence.

Hours and cost:

Your HVAC Heat Pump Certification course is a 50-hour training activity, scheduled at your convenience for up to a maximum of 8 participants.  Pricing includes training administration, instruction, class handouts and materials, training consumables, a certification test voucher, and an activity evaluation at the conclusion of training.
