This course provides an introduction to the machine shop environment, including the safe setup and operation of various types of machine shop equipment and tooling. Individuals will participate in instructor facilitated activities intended to provide an overview of the manufacturing industry. Individuals will be given general knowledge of shop safety, industrial terminology, quality assurance, cutting tools, hand tools, and the following conventional machines: drill press, pedestal grinder, surface grinder, belt sander, band saw, lathe, mill, and other common machinery.

This instructor led course with reference text and workbook focuses on the study and application of basic machining competencies. We will utilize a variety of machines, tooling, equipment and materials to provide participants with an overview of manufacturing environment, including safety, machining, job planning and quality assurance.
HOURS
Your Manufacturing Fundamentals course is a 28-hour training activity, scheduled at your convenience for up to a maximum of 10 participants. 2.8 IACET approved CEU’s will be awarded upon successful completion of the course.
