Training is largely hands-on, focusing contact-time on skills-building, facilitated by Certified Welding Educators (CWE).Certification confirms that your employees can weld to industry standards, welding efficiency, productively, and safely.

Course objectives:
• Apply safety procedures in preparation of and welding of pipe
• Exhibit the proper technique for preparing a the pipe for welding
• Demonstrate the ability to tack pipe in 5G downhill position
• Demonstrate the ability to weld pipe in the 5G downhill position using E6010 and E7018 electrodes
• Apply the procedure for preparing pipe for a weld test
• Apply the procedure for inspecting weld joints before, during, and after welding
• Exhibit the required skills for Welder, Arc (DOT 810.384-014)
Training description:
This course provides the participant with extensive practice in the preparation and welding of pipe in the 5G downhill position. Training consists of safety in pipe welding, consumable inserts, pipe jigs, and fixtures. Other topics of study include preparing and bending transverse and side bend tests, as well as purging pipe for special tests, and visual acceptance criteria for pipe welds in all codes in include AWS, API, and ASME pipe welding codes. Training prepares completers for API-5G downhill pipe welding certification.
Hours and cost:
Your Pipe Welding II – 5G Downhill course is a 45-hour training activity, scheduled at your convenience for up to a maximum of 8 participants. Pricing includes training administration, instruction, class handouts and materials, training consumables, American Welding Society membership, a certification test voucher, and an activity evaluation at the conclusion of training.
