Quality Function Deployment

QFD is a tool used to transform the needs and wants of the customer into the specifications of the product or service you provide. Commonly referred to as the “Voice of the Customer” and/or “The House of Quality”, QFD is a graphical tool used to prioritize and compare your customer expectations to your design.

Training to utilize QFD can help create a customer driven environment within your organization and reduce “design to manufacture” costs by incorporating needed changes prior to production and delivery.  QFD is a commonly used quality improvement tool used by successful companies who employ Six Sigma methodologies.

Course objectives

Upon successful completion of this course the learner will understand the history and useful applications of the technique, and the main steps of QFD mechanics:

  • Performing a customer needs analysis
  • Translating customer needs to engineering specifications
  • Evaluating design concepts for meeting specifications 
  • Evaluating process for matching design 
  • Ensuring necessary control characteristics with a process control plan

Training description and materials

This course is conducted in a classroom setting and utilizes prepared handout materials that assimilate an actual Quality Function Deployment project.

Hours and Cost

Your Quality Function Deployment course is a 16 hour training activity, scheduled at your convenience for up to a maximum of 12 participants.  1.6 IACET approved CEU’s will be awarded upon successful completion of the course.  Pricing includes training administration, classroom instruction, prepared handouts and training consumables.
