Ivy Tech/BPP Youth Education Theatre (Ages 5-16)
Performance-based theatrical adventures foster creativity, imagination, self-expression and self-confidence! All camps are held at the Bloomington Playwrights Project (BPP) in downtown Bloomington and run 9 AM to 4 PM.
Participants will explore the world of theatre through music, movement, visual arts, and performance. The BPP will focus on fostering creativity and imagination through teaching the art of acting and storytelling. Students will learn improvisation techniques along with such introductory elements of acting as character creation and artistic collaboration. Our Broadway Kids will gain self-confidence, respect for others, and a greater ability to express themselves both physically and vocally.
DramatiCATS (Comedy and Tragedy Stars)
In DramatiCATS (Comedy and Tragedy Stars), students are challenged with brainstorming characters and writing monologues, eventually culminating in their own two-character plays that the students will perform side-by-side with adult actors. DramatiCATS campers' imaginations are challenged constantly while they create one of a kind new theatre.
Over the course of a two-week day camp, students work with theatre professionals to develop and perform in their own original plays. A virtual playground for young imaginations, DramatiCATS is directly in line with the BPP’s mission to be a leading artistic force in the production and encouragement of new plays and encourage promising young writers of tomorrow.
BPP Laugh Factory
Do you have a funny kid at the dinner table? Do they practice their jokes for you hours on end or stay up late to watch Saturday Night Live? Then send them over to BPP’s Laugh Factory where they’ll learn to perfect their comedic acting, joke writing, and quick thinking through sketch and improvisational comedy! Your kids will learn from teachers who have trained at Chicago’s Second City and Improv Olympic comedy theaters! Not only will they learn how to script and improvise an entire original comedy show, they will pick up confidence, collaboration, and communication skills through our improvisation and community-building curriculum. Note that this camp is also perfect for those kids who want to beef up their funny bone or just burst out of their shell in an open, accepting, and silly environment. This camp is just plain fun!

Celebrating an amazing fifteen years of theatre outreach, BPP's Musical Theater Camp provides Bloomington's teens and 'tweens with an intensive, four-week, summer stock experience. A rigorous rehearsal schedule, collaboration with theatre professionals, and a special mid-camp cabaret night give campers an exciting window into the demands and rewards of a life in theatre.
