Blueprint Reading Basics
  • Provides an introduction to reading and interpreting machine shop symbols, welding blueprints and working drawings used in trades and crafts. Focuses on dimension, shape, fabrication and assembly. Applies basic mathematics to the solution of print and performance problems.

Basic Electricity
  • The study of electrical laws and principles pertaining to DC and AC circuits is the focus of the course. This includes current, voltage, resistance, power, inductance, capacitance, and transformers. Stresses the use of standard electrical tests, electrical equipment, and troubleshooting procedures. Safety procedures and practices are emphasized.

Workplace Readiness Certificate Test Prep —

  • The skills needed to find a job are called Workplace Readiness Skills. Supervisors look for certain competencies, foundation skills, and personal qualities when deciding whom they should hire. This program is intended to help students prepare to take the NOCTI Workplace Readiness Assessment. A NOCTI Workplace Readiness Certificate is earned once the student passes the test.

Dementia Care
Problem Solving & Managing Behaviors
  • Behaviors of agitation, both aggressive and non-aggressive, are explained. Potential solutions and techniques are presented with specific emphasis on topics such as combativeness, incontinence, sexuality, and wandering. Culturally sensitive approaches and working with the family are also examined.
