CDL-B COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE TRUCK DRIVER TRAINING

The CDL-B Truck Driver Training program is designed to prepare students for the Indiana CDL examination. Ivy Tech is partnered with SAGE Technical Schools to provide CDL training based on the renowned curriculum of the Professional Truck Drivers Institute (PTDI).This curriculum will act as the basis for national standards and rules for truck driver training schools. Driving time includes 24 hours of over-the-road and range instruction, utilizing a one-on-one delivery.

CDL CLASS A TTD 80 ADVANCE
(Course ID: TRDL CDL3)
This program is designed for students with some truck driving experience, such as class B driving but this program will not usually meet the standards for regional/over the road employment with major carriers. Smaller carriers will often accept the advanced program. Students coming into the 80 hour usually will not have a CDL-A but need to have the class A permit'fees must be collected for drug screening and DOT physical.

CDL CLASS A TTD 40 REFRESHER
(Course ID: TRDL CDL5)
This is refresher training for students that already have a class A license but either have not used it within a year OR they have less than 1 year of documented driving experience. This program DOES NOT include a road test or permit fees because the student is required to already have a Class A license. The student MUST have a DOT physical and a drug screening to be permitted into a SAGE truck.
The 40 hour program consists of 20 hours in classroom covering the entry level training, pre-trip inspections and general knowledge/FMCSR rules-regulations upgrade. The program also consists of 20 hours behind the wheel driving (5- four hour driving sessions / ONE student per Truck-guaranteed.) The last drive (Drive #5) includes the TOP, TORT and TOST final test. Certificate Program exceeds the American Trucking Association (ATA), Professional Truck Driving Institute PTDI requirements.

ROAD DRIVING
(Course ID: TRDL COT4)
This course instructs the basic over-the-road driving skills necessary for the safe operation of Class A multi gear commercial vehicles. Students will drive under the instruction of an approved school instructor at least 10 hours on city, urban, and rural highways. The road driving instruction will include multiple terrain and weather conditions as available in preparation for the federally mandated CDL skills examination. This examination will be performed by a third party tester. Possession of a valid operator's license and a Class A learners permit is required for this course.
