This course is particularly offered to offenders in the Indiana Department of Correction. Students will learn philosophy and techniques of Culinary Arts with the goal of returning to the workforce in a related area following release.

HORTICULTURE CAREER TECHNICAL PROGRAM
(Course ID: WORK PRI8)
This course is offered only to offenders in the Indiana Department of Correction. Students will learn principles and functions of horticulture with the goal of returning to the workforce in a related area following release.
TABE assessment of 8.0 or higher. Offender interview with instructor.

- Plant science
- Growing conditions- (consult reference books, landscape consultants, nursery catalogs, computer software programs, etc.)
- Hardy zone and growth season
- Soil preference (clay, sand, loam, pH levels)
- Orientation (sun or shade, NSEW)
- Water conditions
- Plant nutrition
- N-P-K (nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium) and fertilizers
- Photosynthesis

LITERACY
(Course ID: WORK LIT1)
This course is offered only to offenders in the Indiana Department of Correction. Literacy is for students who test in the literacy level using the TABE. Individualized instruction both in print material and electronic software packages are used to increase the TABE levels so that students progress to PRE-GED levels.
