MACHINE TOOL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

The Machine Tool Institute will prepare you for a stable job in the manufacturing industry. You will learn standard and manual machining, Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machining, blue print reading, Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software; as well as the formulas to determine proper speeds and feeds of machines, maintenance of common machines like mills, lathes, and grinders. Through this high-tech training, you will earn eight nationally-recognized certifications through the National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

Certifications

Through the Ivy Institute, students will enroll in five 8-week sessions in which they will earn the following certifications:

  • NIMS Measurement, Materials and Safety
  • NIMS Job Planning, Benchwork and Layout
  • NIMS Manual Milling
  • NIMS Manual Turning and Chucking Certification
  • NIMS CNC Milling Operations
  • NIMS CNC Turning Operations
  • Manual Grinding Certification
  • NIMS CNC Milling: Programming Setup & Operations

How to Apply

The Ivy Tech Institute of Technology is a selective program. Applicants need to complete the following steps before being admitted into the Ivy Institute of Technology:

  1. Apply to Ivy Tech Community College and complete the enrollment steps.
  2. Contact the Program Chair.
  3. Complete the Ivy Institute Application and submit it to the person listed at your campus of choice below.
