MACHINE TOOL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

Through the Ivy Institute, students can choose to enroll in three pathways:

  • Accelerated (2 Semester TC Program) Avg 20 to 25 hrs/wk
  • Full-time (3 Semester TC Program) Avg 15 to 20 hrs/wk
  • Part-time  (4-5 Semester TC Program) Avg 10 to 15 hrs/wk

Machine Tool Institute

The Machine Tool Institute will prepare you for a stable job in the manufacturing industry. You will learn standard and manual machining, Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machining, blue print reading, Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software; as well as the formulas to determine proper speeds and feeds of machines, maintenance of common machines like mills, lathes, and grinders. Through this high-tech training, you will earn eight nationally-recognized certifications through the National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

Certifications

Through the Ivy Institute, students will have the opportunity to earn the following certifications:

  • NIMS Measurement, Materials and Safety
  • NIMS Job Planning, Benchwork and Layout
  • NIMS Manual Milling
  • NIMS Manual Turning and Chucking Certification
  • NIMS CNC Milling Operations
  • NIMS CNC Turning Operations
  • Manual Grinding Certification
  • NIMS CNC Milling: Programming Setup & Operations

If you are interested in applying to Ivy Tech Community College and earning a Technical Certificate (TC) offered through the Ivy Institute of Technology, click here to complete an application.  Once you are admitted to Ivy Tech, you’ll receive an acceptance letter detailing your enrollment steps, which include:

   2. Assessment
   3. Advising
