With an Associate of Science degree in Kinesiology, you will acquire an understanding of motion, particularly of the human body. The purpose of this degree is to prepare you to work in entry-level positions in fitness leadership, sports management, wellness promotions, and corporate wellness. Articulated transfer opportunities are available with Indiana University Bloomington with specializations in Sports Marketing/Management, Fitness and Exercise Science. Students can transfer from the Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington campus to the Department of Kinesiology in the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at the Indiana University Bloomington campus. In addition, students earning this degree may transfer to and leave Indiana University with the possibility of securing three nationally recognized certifications: ACE Personal Trainer, ACE Group Exercise Instructor, and ACSM Health and Fitness Instructor. | Exercise Science Exercise science is an excellent option for those who are planning to further their education up to the graduate level in areas such as adapted physical education, corporate fitness, and sports medicine. Many students continue on to the bachelor's degree in preparation for seeking admittance to professional programs in the health sciences such as medicine, physical therapy, or podiatry. Students entering the job market with an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science are prepared for entry-level positions in corporate fitness programs and health clubs, or in the sales and marketing of medical and sports-related equipment. |

| Fitness The Fitness area of emphasis provides initial preparation for students who are interested in a career in the emerging industries related to fitness, health and wellness. Those who pursue baccalaureate degrees find jobs as certified personal trainers, community wellness program directors, and consultants to commercial health clubs. |

| Sports Marketing Students who select the Sports Marketing and Management area of emphasis are usually interested in pursuing careers that utilize business skills in the marketing and management of sports. Employment opportunities, for those who go on and complete a bachelor's degree, are directed to the fields of professional sports, amateur sports, and intercollegiate sports, but extend to marketing, retail, and sporting goods manufacturing. |
