Connersville Technology Center
The Saturday, August 12, 1999 building dedication ceremony for Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana Connersville Instructional and Technology Center marked a special milestone in the College's history of serving the technical education needs of east central Indiana. It is the gratifying result of business, labor, community groups, government and higher education working together to provide new opportunities for Connersville, Fayette County and the surrounding areas.
New industry demands for training, and opportunities for economic development in east central Indiana were the impetus for the Instructional and Technology Center. In total, the Center has seven classrooms, two computer labs, six industrial labs, a learning resource center, and one conference room. The opening of this Center increased Ivy Tech's presence in Connersville (which began in 1968) from 3,600 to 25,000 square feet see floor layouts below.
Since opening the new Center, Ivy Tech has served over 20,000 credit and non-credit students. This site, through a cooperative program with Visteon Automotive Systems, has delivered training allowing over 400 Visteon employees to successfully complete and be awarded Certificates of Technical Achievement (CTAs) from the state of Indiana in Advanced Manufacturing Processes. The Center, focused on economic and workforce development, creates responsive training and education programs, which directly impact the viability of the surrounding region's employee population. Partnering with equipment vendors has expanded use of the site drawing training participants nationally, and is forecasted to draw globally.
