FEBRUARY
Connersville Family Bowling Night

Students and their guests enjoyed a great family night out at Plaza Lanes Bowling Alley on Friday, February 15, 2013. From children to adults, everyone was able to bowl to their heart’s content.  This event was sponsored by the Department of Student Life.

Day at the Statehouse

On February 26, Ivy Tech students from across the state took a trip to the Indianapolis State House. Students were able to meet with public officials, learn about the democratic process and tour the historical State House building, and even shake hands with Governor Mike Pence.

The Day of the Statehouse happens every year in February. If you were not able to attend this event, but you are interested in being an involved citizen you consider joining the Student Government Association (SGA).

Wreck It Ralph

We hope you were able to make it to the showings of Wreck-It-Ralph that happened both in Richmond and Connersville.  The Campus Activities Board (CAB) sponsored this event and selected the movie that received the most votes by students. Over forty students and their families enjoyed a night of movie watching and popcorn.

Ivy Tech Invitational Basketball Tournament

We are proud to announce that the Ivy Tech-Richmond Bobcats won the Ivy Tech Invitational Tournament on Saturday, February 23, 2013 in Indianapolis. The Bobcats first played against Ivy Tech Lafayette, defeating them 110-72.

The Bobcats went on to defeat the Indianapolis Bears in the second game scoring 81-76. Our team played excellent and displayed great sportsmanship. Please make sure you congratulate our players!

Blood Drive

On Thursday, April 18th, from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Johnson Hall, Ivy Tech Richmond is teaming up with the Community Blood Center, to give you a chance to give.

Etiquette Program

Ivy Tech is having an etiquette dinner at Olde Richmond Inn, Wednesday, April 17th, 2013 at 5:00 PM. This will be a great opportunity to learn the intricacies of networking and dining. Space is limited to the first 35 students.

The cost is only $5 for a five course meal. To make a reservation, go to the student affairs counters at the Richmond or Connersville sites.


What Not to Wear

2013 Connersville Bicentennial Parade

July 6, 2013 the Ivy Tech Richmond/Connersville region will be participating in the Connersville Bicentennial Parade. We will be honoring Connersville’s Past, Present, and Future. This celebratory trip will be a 3.5 mile parade through Connersville’s most visible areas, starting at 11:00 a.m. We hope that you can make it out to the event.

Constitution Day

This year Ivy Tech celebrated Constitution Day on September 17 by helping over 25 people register to vote!

Constitution Day is a federal observance of the adoption of the United States Constitution and is celebrated every year at Ivy Tech Community College.  This year Ivy Tech Richmond gave away over 30 mini-constitutions, registered people to vote, and showed videos concerning the constitution.

Cope Day

On September 19, 2012, Ivy Tech Richmond and Indiana University East met at Cope Environmental Center for an afternoon of volunteering. Over twenty volunteers from these colleges showed up to chip trails and enjoy Cope’s beautiful 103-acre facility.

Regional Student Leadership Retreat

Are you a club officer or thinking of becoming one in the near future? Do not forget to come to the Regional Student Leadership Retreat that happens every fall.

This year, from September 21-22, eight student officers from various clubs, including the Campus Activities Board, Student Government Association and others, attended the Student Leadership Retreat in Indianapolis. At this retreat, club officers learned about their communication styles, how to interact with different styles and how to develop goals for their organization. Each participant left with a goal and a better understanding of how to serve his or her group.

OCTOBER
Afternoon Delight

On October 10, 2012 the Campus Activities Board (CAB) was in Connersville gaining feedback on what events students would like to see. They also served muffins and played music.

The CAB is a group of students who plan events for fellow students. They are always looking for new ideas and welcome all students who are interested in making fun events happen on campus. The CAB meets every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in Johnson Hall, room 1245. If you are interested, come on by.

Ivy Tech Annual Day of Service

This year Ivy Tech Richmond participated in the second annual Ivy Tech Day of Service on October 19, 2012. The Day of Service lets people get involved in volunteer projects in the community.

Various students, faculty, staff and early-college students volunteered at different organizations within the community. These organizations include: CAECI – Headstart, Cope Environmental Center, Friends Fellowship, Hayes Arboretum, H. E. L. P. the Animals Inc., Pauline Trueblood Child Development Center, Richmond State Hospital, Salvation Army, and Sunrise Therapeutic Riding Center. The work of these volunteers directly and indirectly served over 300 people.

Ghouls Night Out

We hope that you had a “ghoulish-good” time at the Campus Activities Board’s “Ghoul’s Night Out” event on October 26, 2012. Over 200 people came out for pizza, trick-or-treating, and scary stories. The event ended with a showing of the movie BeetleJuice.

The Campus Activities Board is a group of students who plan events for fellow students. They are always looking for new ideas and welcome all students who are interested in making fun events happen on campus. The CAB meets every Wednesday at 1:00 PM in Johnson Hall, room 1245.
