Ivy Tech Community College has named Dr. Deanna King as the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the newly merged Wabash Valley (Terre Haute) and Southwest (Evansville) region.
King has been with Ivy Tech Community College since 1993, and has served as the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the Wabash Valley region since 2006. She began her career at Ivy Tech as an Accounting instructor, and has since held the titles of Professor of Accounting, Program Chair of Public Safety-Fire Science, Program Chair of Accounting, Division Chair of Curriculum and Faculty Development, Program Chair of Paramedic Science, Division Chair of Health Sciences, and interim Executive Director of Finance. Her experience also includes work as Controller for Carey Concrete and serving as Chief Financial Officer for Moore Langen Printing Company in Terre Haute.
King, who is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), earned a bachelor's degree in Operations and Systems Management from Indiana University, and a master's of Business Administration (MBA) with emphasis in Information Systems and a doctorate in Educational Administration from Indiana State University.
During her 21 years at Ivy Tech, King has made a significant impact. Her achievements include the implementation of more than 20 new academic programs, leading efforts to expand academic programs and accelerate access to new equipment and technologies, fostering new partnerships between other educational institutions and Ivy Tech, and leading efforts to expand educational resources to outlying communities.
