When opportunity knocks, be ready. And when it knocks for Jody Crum, Stephanie Hogue and Mitch Myers, they’ll be ahead of the game. Each has completed the Opportunity Knocks Seminar Series presented by the Ivy Tech Community College Business and Entrepreneurial Services Center (BES Center), the Greencastle Chamber of Commerce and the West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC). The first seminar of the next four-part series, Launch Your Own Business is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and costs $25 per seminar. Subsequent seminars will meet in September, October and November.
“This four-part series was created to develop and enhance the business skills of individuals who are interested in starting a business, formalizing a business plan or developing a growth plan for an existing business,” said Ken Eitel, director of the BES Center. “Each is designed to give participants the tools they need to get started on the right track to a successful business.”
“The OK seminar series was an invaluable learning experience with outstanding resources. In addition, the BES Center, ISBDC and the Chamber provided support and encouragement to further pursue my dream of opening a business,” said Myers. Crum, Hogue and Myers have aspirations to launch a business of their own in the future; one is well on the way to developing a viable business plan working with the BES Center and ISBDC counselors for “start-up” in the near future.
While Crum, Hogue and Myers have completed the inaugural series to receive certificates, others have taken one or more of the seminars with plans to complete the four-part series this fall.
