BLOOMINGTON – Ivy Tech Community College alumna Stacy Hall is now a staff radiation therapist at IU Health Bloomington and Bedford Hospitals. As a radiation therapist, she provides treatment to cancer patients through traditional photon radiation therapy. Hall graduated magna cum laude with an Associate of Science in Radiation Therapy in 2013. She was also the 2013 radiation therapy outstanding student award recipient.
“Working in radiation therapy is very rewarding,” said Hall. “One of the best aspects is that we get to know our patients and their families. Our patients come in for treatment usually Monday through Friday and usually over several weeks at a time.”
Hall decided to enroll at Ivy Tech specifically to become a radiation therapist. After Hall applied and was accepted into the radiation therapy program, she was able to start her clinical training.
“I could never say enough good things about my experience at Ivy Tech,” said Hall. “Ivy Tech has a great relationship with the community throughout the state of Indiana. Part of that relationship in Bloomington is its connection to the local cancer centers. As part of the radiation therapy program at Ivy Tech you get to experience real life work training at the local cancer centers throughout the two year program.”
Hall described how Ivy Tech prepared her for employment and connected her with her future employer.
“I am extremely happy with how things turned out for me after graduation,” said Hall. “I got a full time position at one of our clinical sites through Ivy Tech. The relationships built by being in the clinics is invaluable for employment opportunities and Ivy Tech provides the path for these connections.”
Hall said the personalized instruction and small class sizes at Ivy Tech helped her succeed.
“The small classes allow for a more personal feel,” said Hall. “The instructors can take time with each student to ensure they are making their way to the best of their ability. The courses are of the highest quality and fast track you into a profession.”
