Trudy Weddle promoted to vice chancellor of enrollment services

BLOOMINGTON – Ivy Tech Community College’s Bloomington campus welcomes new leadership in enrollment services, Trudy Weddle. Weddle previously served as the campus director for K-12 initiatives and she officially began working as the vice chancellor of enrollment services on June 17, 2019.

“Trudy has years of experience serving students in higher education with a demonstrated success in connecting Indiana residents to early college opportunities at Ivy Tech,” said Chancellor Jennie Vaughan. “In her new role as vice chancellor, Trudy’s focus is on Ivy Tech’s mission to increase educational and job attainment in our service area by forming strategic partnerships that connect Ivy Tech, industry, and area Hoosier residents together. I am confident she is up for the challenge.”

Weddle began her career in higher education at Ivy Tech in May 2008 as the director of veteran’s affairs at the Indianapolis campus and has more than eleven years of progressive leadership experience, including a vast array of experience in financial aid, K-12, and overall enrollment management.

In her previous position as director of K-12 initiatives, Weddle led early college efforts in which dual enrollment at Ivy Tech Bloomington grew from 61 high school students to 141 in just one year. Those efforts also led to increased high school college credential completions from 31 to 113 in that same year.

Weddle says she started as a community college student and relates to the opportunities that higher education can provide.

“As a first-generation college student and 21^st Century Scholar that began my educational journey at Ivy Tech Community College, I learned first-hand the benefits students gain by starting at community college,” she said. “With Ivy Tech’s free application, affordable tuition, varied scheduling, classes taught by credentialed industry leaders, and free tutoring services, students are provided a supportive learning environment that enables them to reach their educational goals to either secure a job with more earning potential or transfer to university to earn a bachelor’s degree.” 

Weddle earned her associate degree in business administration from Ivy Tech’s Terre Haute campus, her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, her master’s in leadership development from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, and is currently a doctoral candidate at Indiana State University working toward her PhD in educational administration with a higher education leadership focus.

Ivy Tech classes begin at multiple start dates throughout the year including Aug., Oct., Jan,. March, and June. Courses are offered in an 8-week format, in-person, online, and some at night to accommodate working adults.
