Ivy Tech Bloomington welcomed students back to campus with virtual and in-person activities during the first week of fall classes which began on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021. Welcome Week is a campus tradition held each semester to help students build connections to campus, organized by the office of student life. Welcome Week activities also provide students with resources to help them throughout their educational journeys.
During the week, faculty and staff walked the hallways specifically to engage with students, to answer questions and help them find their classes or other campus locations. Students were also greeted with complimentary beverages from Cup of Joy Food Truck.
On Wednesday, free breakfast by the Bloomington Bagel Company was offered. Students were able to learn more about Welcome Week Activities and get some Ivy Tech swag.
On Thursday, students enjoyed Movie Trivia Day. Students could play along with an electronic board to win prizes.
Grab ‘n’ Go Success Kits were handed out on Friday. The kits were full of products to help students be successful during the semester.
Stuff a Plush, offered on Monday, was a big success. Students enjoyed filling the shells of a variety of stuffed animals to take home.
On Tuesday a student involvement and volunteer fair showed students how to get involved in student organizations, recreational sports, volunteer opportunities, and more. The virtual resources fair was held Wednesday.
Also on Wednesday, students enjoyed Virtual Caricature Night where they could take a few minutes to get a free digital caricature to download. A professional artist was on Zoom and created quick and fun portraits for the students.
Free admission to the Starlite Drive-in was offered to students on Thursday, where they could enjoy Raiders of the Lost Arc.
