BLOOMINGTON – Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington is hiring part-time automotive technology instructors to teach 8-week courses. Day or evening classes are available and are held two times per week. The pay rate per class is $46.50 per hour for a total of 64 hours and classes begin August 19.

The initial commitment is only eight-weeks, with the opportunity to teach more classes if interested. Courses are held at the Ivy Tech automotive garage located in a converted airport hangar at the Monroe County Airport on Kirby Road.

Course topics include:

  • Basic automotive service
  • Electrical systems
  • Brake systems
  • Steering and suspension
  • Engine performance systems
  • Driveline systems
  • Engine fundamentals and repair
  • Climate control systems and more

Teacher requirements include five years of experience in the field and a willingness to earn ASE certifications, with testing paid for by the college.
