Ivy Tech Community College Hamilton County, Indiana, celebrated the academic and leadership accomplishments of its graduates during its commencement ceremony on May 11, 2024. Among the honored students was Toby Stockton, who led the graduate address and was recognized as an Outstanding Student for the School of Business, Supply Chain And Logistics. Stockton began his Ivy Tech journey in 2019 as a high school senior looking to complete his Associates degree and transfer. With Covid disrupting future plans, he decided to take an exploratory gap year looking for career opportunities in linguistics and real estate. After a year and a half away, new goals were found and an academic plan to return to Ivy Tech Hamilton County was set in motion.
Hamilton County Dean, Nicol Bradberry, of the Business program at Ivy Tech Hamilton County commended Stockton for his achievements both in and out of the classroom. During his time at Ivy Tech, Stockton served as the inaugural President of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the Vice President of the Student Government Association. While not originally his plan, Toby was guided to these areas and felt a need to use his talents for his campus community. Through hard work Toby is proud of all his achievements and contributions to Ivy Tech.
Toby plans on attending Middlebury University’s summer program to study Mandarin Chinese and will be transferring to Purdue University's Daniels School of Business in the fall to study International Finance during the academic year.
The Hamilton County campus also held its inaugural nursing pinning ceremony on the Friday prior to graduation. The Pinning Ceremony occurs at the end of a student's program in a school of nursing and signifies the completion of this level of education and official initiation into the profession. This cohort of 18 students is the first to complete the nursing program on the Hamilton County campus.
