Dean Sara Shlaer says, “It was without a doubt a success.” SASE is also excited to share that the Multicultural Media Producing Program (MMPP) has its first cohort of students who started with the summer term and are preparing for their internship at WISH-TV in the fall.

To wrap up the school year, around 20 of the school's faculty participated in a workshop on Internationalizing Curriculum led by Heather Singmaster. The topics included:

  • What is global competence and why do our students need it?
  • How can we internationalize our learning objectives and strategies?
  • How can we increase the impact of the diverse content that is already in our courses?

Student Life

The Office of Student Life successfully hosted and co-hosted dozens of events this past academic year, many of which were new for the Indianapolis campus. The 2022 Inaugural Green and White Ball and the Mister and Miss Ivy Tech celebrations are among these events. The Green and White Ball was an end-of-the-semester celebration that comprised faculty, staff, and students, with about 150 in attendance. Hang Doan was crowned Mister Ivy Tech, and Lena Dickerson was crowned Miss Ivy Tech (pictured above). Doan and Dickerson were chosen based on their academic standing, community service, oration, and popular student vote. Both of them received scholarships.

Student Life is also proud of its continued success with New Student Orientations. They have served over 900 students since the program’s redesign in the summer of 2022. Such orientations serve as a way to onboard students continually and adequately, setting them up for academic success.

Events from the past academic year include:

  • Financial Literacy
  • SOAR Awards
  • First Gen Week
  • Involvement Fair
  • Women’s Brunch
  • Stuff a Bear and Share
  • Wellness Week
  • and more!
