Jennifer "Kelz" Kelly, a proud Ivy Tech Indianapolis Class of 2024 graduate and military veteran, continues to make waves in the entrepreneurial world.
Fresh off earning her associate degree in Entrepreneurship from Ivy Tech Indianapolis, Kelly has been accepted into the highly selective D’Aniello Institute for Veteran and Military Families (IVMF) Bunker Labs Veterans in Residence program—a 10-week business incubator designed to help veteran entrepreneurs scale their businesses.
“As I embark on this 10-week business incubator journey, I'm filled with gratitude and optimism. Looking forward to growing my company and sharing updates with you!" Kelly shared on LinkedIn.
The program, hosted by Syracuse University’s IVMF, provides mentorship, networking, and business development opportunities to military veterans looking to grow and strengthen their companies. For Kelly, this marks another milestone in her entrepreneurial journey, which began with her victory at Ivy Tech Indy’s Ivy Pitch Competition and has since evolved into a thriving beauty business.

A Commitment to Lifelong Learning
Kelly’s recent graduation from Ivy Tech Indianapolis represents more than just another credential—it’s a testament to her resilience, continuous learning, and dedication to leveling up in her career as she opened her businesses Image by Kelz and Elevated Image Suites before enrolling in Ivy Tech’s Garatoni School of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
"This accomplishment represents so much more than just a diploma—it’s a testament to my growth, resilience, and commitment to always leveling up," Kelly said. "Over the past two years, I’ve faced personal and health challenges, yet I stayed focused and determined to grow—not just as a beautypreneur but as a well-rounded business leader."
For Kelly, returning to school wasn’t just about earning a degree—it was about deepening her understanding of business beyond passion and skills. She wanted to offer her clients, students, and fellow entrepreneurs a more strategic and innovative perspective.
"This is just another reminder that learning never stops,” Kelly emphasized. “Surrounding yourself with diverse, knowledgeable people and pushing yourself to grow is essential—not just in business but in life."
Giving Back to Future Entrepreneurs
Even while completing her degree, Kelly remained deeply engaged in mentorship and community building at Ivy Tech. She took on a leadership role as an informal liaison for the Entrepreneurship program, connecting with students and fostering a supportive learning environment.
Most recently, Kelly returned to Ivy Tech as a guest speaker for an Entrepreneurship class, where she shared insights on mitigating risk, grassroots marketing, and hiring vs. outsourcing. She emphasized the power of relationship-building in marketing, advising students that "Marketing through relationships often outweighs online efforts in the early stages. Build real connections first, then scale with systems."
Reflecting on the experience, Kelly shared on LinkedIn: "Connecting with nine passionate entrepreneurs across different industries was truly inspiring. Their energy, questions, and eagerness to learn reminded me why I love what I do."
She left the class with a powerful piece of advice: "When the right opportunity comes, don’t hesitate—jump on it!"
Looking Ahead
Kelly’s acceptance into Bunker Labs Veterans in Residence marks another significant milestone in her entrepreneurial journey. As she embarks on this next phase of growth, she remains committed to mentoring, speaking, and collaborating with other businesses and organizations—both within and beyond the Ivy Tech community.
To those considering a return to education, Kelly has a clear message: "Do it. You’re never too old, too busy, or too far into your career to learn something new and take your skills to the next level."
With her entrepreneurial drive, commitment to lifelong learning, and passion for mentoring others, Kelly continues to inspire both Ivy Tech students and the broader business community.
