Ivy Tech Indianapolis celebrated the grand opening of the new space dedicated to Library & Tutoring services. The relocation from the Learning Resource Center (LRC) to the fourth floor of the North Meridian Center (NMC) brought modernized facilities and enhanced accessibility for patrons.

“I see this move as an opportunity to be where the people are. I am excited for the library to be more accessible to our students, staff, and faculty,” said Natasha Synowka, Director of Library and Tutoring Services.

The grand opening featured tours of the new space, games like a scavenger hunt, snacks, and other fun activities, including a community puzzle and a vision board-making table. Visitors explored the refreshed facilities, designed to support academic success and foster community engagement.

Modern Features and Services

The relocation has enabled several enhancements to better serve the Ivy Tech community:

  • Unified Tutoring Space: Writing, math, and School of IT tutoring are now conveniently offered in one dedicated room.
  • Digital Sign-In: Drop-in tutoring is now digital, with kiosks at the entrance of the tutoring area allowing students to scan their IDs or sign in manually. This innovation eliminates the need for traditional pen-and-paper sign-ins.
  • Book Offerings: Students can check out up to 10 books with their student ID, including options for both academic and leisure reading.
  • Free Amenities: The library continues to provide free coffee and tea, with additional snacks available around midterm time.
