The School of IT (SoIT) has a lot going on this year! We just started our first software development boot camp that prepares students to be job-ready in one semester through an accelerated study program. The boot camp is led by Prof. Zach Hamby, who is also the Department Chair for our Software Development, Data Analytics, Informatics, and Computer Science programs. Students follow one of the Software CT programs, in addition to some additional coursework, to learn the skills necessary to be employable at the end of the program. TArea employers will participate in a student showcase at the end of the program to facilitate placement in the field.

We are also in the planning stages for an IT Helpdesk boot camp that will begin in summer 2024 and will take three 8-week sessions to complete. This boot camp will follow the IT Helpdesk CT program curriculum, along with additional coursework in Emotional Intelligence and Conflict Management, to help develop people skills along with the technical knowledge. We are working in conjunction with area employers to ensure that the boot camp contains the skills that are most sought after in the Indianapolis area.

We are growing! Fall 2023 enrollment in campus SoIT courses is up 65% compared to fall 2022. This is phenomenal growth that can be largely attributed to the faculty and staff who worked diligently during spring and summer as part of our Four Disciplines of Execution (4DX) efforts to increase enrollment and retention. To meet this dramatic growth, we are in the process of hiring additional full-time and adjunct faculty.
