Ivy Tech Celebrates National Nurses Week, Offers Tuition-Free Practical Nursing Certificate
TERRE HAUTE – Ivy Tech celebrates National Nurses Week by recognizing the incredible nurses that help keep Indiana communities strong.
“Nurses are the heartbeat of our communities, and this week we're celebrating their dedication and commitment to helping others,” said Kim Cooper, Ivy Tech’s Dean of Nursing.
As Indiana’s community college, Ivy Tech has been educating the next generation of nurses for decades. The college graduates the most associate-level nurses in the nation, according to the Nursing School Almanac. In 2023, Ivy Tech Terre Haute graduated 159 students from the program. The Terre Haute campus is also ranked No. 1 in the state for the best associate degree nursing program.

Ivy Tech offers several pathways for individuals interested in a nursing career. At Ivy Tech, students can earn a Pre-Nursing certificate, a Practical Nursing technical certificate, or an Associate of Science in Nursing.
Now through Indiana’s workforce ready grant, ‘Next Level Jobs’, individuals can earn a Practical Nursing certificate tuition-free. After successful completion of the Practical Nursing program, students are eligible to apply for the NCLEX-PN licensure exam, which is the exam taken to secure licensing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Graduates who successfully pass the NCLEX-PN exam can begin their career in nursing or continue on to the LPN to ASN Transitional Track course of study.
