Ivy Tech Community College Partners with GOALS Academy to Host Free Financial Aid Workshop
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College is partnering with GOALS Academy to present a free financial aid workshop on February 22 from 9 a.m.-Noon and 3-6 p.m. The event will take place at GOALS Academy temporarily located at 805 S. Alabama St. in Brazil.
A financial advisor will be present to answer questions about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and help students and their families complete the application.
Attendees should bring their social security number, 2021 IRS Tax Returns, W-2 Forms, and other 2021 income/benefit information to the event.
"The FAFSA is an important part of the college application process that helps students get access to financial aid. Even if you don't think you'll be eligible for aid, it's still worth filling out the form because it can help you determine your eligibility for state grants or scholarships, which could make all the difference in paying for school”, says Julie Wonderlin, director of financial aid at Ivy Tech Community College.
Students who are already enrolled or are planning to attend college during the 2023-24 academic year are strongly encouraged to complete the FAFSA. Additionally, students who are eligible to receive the 21st Century Scholarship must complete the FAFSA to claim their award.
The FAFSA is the first step to being eligible for most forms of financial aid, including grants and loans. The state’s deadline to apply for financial aid is April 15.
Clay County residents may also attend College Goal Sunday on February 26 from 2-4 p.m. at Ivy Tech’s Terre Haute campus and Greencastle site. College Goal Sunday provides students and their guardians with the resources they need to complete the FAFSA. Registration is preferred, but not required.
