Ivy Tech Greencastle Celebrates Completion of Accelerated Associate Degree (ASAP) Students
GREENCASTLE– Ivy Tech Community College celebrated the graduates of the Associate Accelerated Program (ASAP) on Wednesday, July 26, at Ivy Tech Community College in Greencastle. The cohort of 12 students completed their associate degrees in just 11 months and are ready to transfer to a four-year college to earn their bachelor’s degrees or begin their careers.
Spread over five eight-week terms, ASAP classes are held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at Ivy Tech Greencastle. The program essentially becomes a student’s full-time occupation until graduation. The limited enrollment program allows students to be part of small, closely-knit groups known as cohorts. A dedicated ASAP coordinator helps students navigate the program, identify academic and career goals, and then works with them to map out a clear path to success.
We're absolutely ecstatic to celebrate the achievement of our students who completed their associate degrees in just 11 months through Ivy Tech's ASAP program.
– Jennifer Rumple, Ivy Tech’s ASAP coordinator
“This accelerated program is a game-changer for our students, providing them with the opportunity to fast-track their education or enter the workforce sooner. By completing their associate degree at Ivy Tech, these students will save thousands on their bachelor’s degree– saving them time and money.”
ASAP graduates leave with not just an associate degree, but with the skills they need to succeed in additional academic programs and the workforce. Ivy Tech has transfer partnerships with many schools in Indiana, and more than 20 Ivy Tech degrees qualify for guaranteed admission at the largest four-year institutions in Indiana. This year, six of the ASAP graduates plan to transfer to a four-year college to earn their bachelor’s degree.
“While we get interest in the ASAP program from students all over the region, a majority of our students in this year’s cohort are from Putnam County”, said Tammy Keenan, Ivy Tech Greencastle’s site director. “Now that they have completed the program, these graduates are poised to make a significant impact on our community. With their newly acquired knowledge, skills, and credentials, these graduates bring with them a fresh perspective and will surely make a positive difference in the workforce."
The ASAP program also provides opportunities for the cohort to participate in local volunteer activities, visit four-year colleges to learn about transfer opportunities, engage in team-building activities, and more.
“I have gained so much from this wonderful program that is worth far more than an associate’s degree,” said Elizabeth Arsnoe, 2023 ASAP graduate. “I have gained work efficiency, volunteering experience, interpersonal communication skills, time management, and a love for lifelong learning.”
Classes for the next cohort begin on August 21, 2023 and will conclude on July 28, 2024. Students interested in enrolling in the program still have time to apply. To qualify for acceptance into the program students must be 22 years old or younger, have a high school diploma and high school GPA of 2.5 or higher, and must have completed the free Ivy Tech application.
