What You’ll Learn

In this two-class bundle, you'll learn everything to help you jump start a career in IT - setting you up for success in taking two key certification exams through CompTIA, one of the world's leading industry partners:

Class 1: CompTIA Tech+

  • This class is 4 weeks, starting February 25, 2025, and ending March 20, 2025 .
  • Students meet virtually Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6-8pm EST.
  • Upon the completion of this class, you'll be offered a seat to take the CompTIA Tech+ exam, FC0-U71.

Class 2: CompTIA A+

  • This class is an 8-week course and starts March 24, 2025, and ends May 15, 2025.
  • Students meet virtually Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6-8pm EST.
  • This class can be converted (or cross-walked) to credit at Ivy Tech Community College for these classes:
  • ITSP 132 IT Support Essentials I and
  • ITSP 134 IT Support Essential II and
  • ITSP 136 Workforce Preparation: CompTIA A+ Certification
  • Upon completion of this class, you'll be offered a seat to take the CompTIA A+ exams, 220-1101 & 220-1102.

This workforce certification is available for free to qualifying students through the Next Level Jobs program. You are eligible to earn this free certification from Ivy Tech if you fulfill all of the following requirements:

  • You are an Indiana resident, and
  • You have a high school diploma or GED/High School Equivalency, and
  • You have not previously received an associate degree or higher (bachelor's, master's, etc.)

Ivy Tech cannot guarantee that any student will pass a certification or licensing exam. Your success will be determined by several factors beyond the instruction you are given in the classroom including your test-taking skills, your willingness to study outside of class, and your satisfactory completion of appropriate practice exams. Certification exam questions are drawn from databases of tens of thousands of possible questions and no two people are asked exactly the same progression of questions. Therefore, a thorough understanding of the subject matter is required. The goal of Ivy Tech in providing a certification exam studies class is to assist you in understanding the material sufficiently to provide a firm foundation for your studies as you prepare for the exam.
