In this three-class bundle, you'll learn everything from the core concepts of an IT career to networking and infrastructure, setting you up for success in taking three key certification exams through CompTIA, one of the world's leading industry partners:

Class 1: CompTIA Tech+

  • This class is one week, starting October 14, 2024, and ending October 21, 2024.
  • Upon the completion of this class, you'll be offered a seat to take the CompTIA Tech+ exam, FC0-U71.
  • This class takes the place the CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ (as of August 2024).

Class 2: CompTIA A+

  • This class is a 7-week course and starts October 28, 2024, and ends December 17, 2024.
  • This class can be converted (or cross-walked) to credit at Ivy Tech Community College for these classes:
  • ITSP 132 IT Support Essentials I and
  • ITSP 134 IT Support Essential II and
  • ITSP 136 Workforce Preparation: CompTIA A+ Certification
  • Upon completion of this class, you'll be offered a seat to take the CompTIA A+ exams, 220-1101 & 220-1102.

Class 3: CompTIA Network+

  • This class is 8 weeks long, starting January 13, 2025, and ending March 10, 2025.
  • This class can be converted (or cross-walked) into credit at Ivy Tech for these classes:
  • NETI 104 Introduction to Networking
  • NETI 114 Workforce Preparation: CompTIA Network+ Certification
  • Upon completion of the class, you'll be offered a seat to take the CompTIA Network+ exams, N10-008 & N10-009.

Career Options

With a CompTIA A+ certification, you'll be well-prepared for entry-level positions such as IT Support Technician, Help Desk Analyst, or Desktop Support Administrator. The skills acquired in this course help to improve your problem-solving capabilities, making you an asset to any IT team and opening doors to advanced roles in IT management and systems administration.

Earning the CompTIA Network+ certification can lead to careers as Network Administrator, Network Technician, or Systems Engineer. This course strengthens your networking knowledge, enabling you to design, implement, and manage networks effectively—skills that are critical for advancement in IT careers.

Class Details

The hybrid model of these classes includes a mix of scheduled online lectures and virtual, hands-on lab sessions. Students should have a basic understanding of IT concepts and terminology prior to enrollment, as well as reliable internet access for online components.

CompTIA Tech+ is the cornerstone certification for those venturing into tech-related careers. It provides a wide spectrum of foundational tech knowledge and hands-on skills, helping you become confident and tech-savvy. In this class, you'll learn:

**IT Concepts and Terminology:** Grasp the essentials of computing, data significance, and problem-solving.

**Infrastructure:** Equip yourself with the knowledge to manage devices and networks securely.

**Applications**: Understand the workings of software applications and operating systems.

**Software Development:** Get introduced to the basics of coding and software creation.

**Database Fundamentals:** Learn about data management and database interfacing.

**Security:** Gain insights into safeguarding digital information and ensuring privacy and data protection.

**Hardware**: Identifying, using and connecting hardware components and devices, including the broad knowledge about different devices that is now necessary to support the remote workforce

**Operating Systems:** Install and support Windows OS including command line and client support, system configuration imaging and troubleshooting for Mac OS, Chrome OS, Android and Linux OS

**Software Troubleshooting**:Troubleshoot PC and mobile device issues including common OS, malware and security issues

**Networking**:Explain types of networks and connections including TCP/IP, WIFI and SOHO

**Troubleshooting:** Troubleshoot real-world device and network issues quickly and efficiently

**Security**: Identify and protect against security vulnerabilities for devices and their network connections

**Mobile Devices**: Install and configure laptops and other mobile devices and support applications to ensure connectivity for end users

**Virtualization and Cloud Computing**: Compare and contrast cloud computing concepts and set up client-side virtualization

**Operational Procedures**: Follow best practices for safety, environmental impacts, and communication and professionalism

**Networking Concepts:** Explain basic networking concepts, including the OSI model, network appliances, applications, cloud concepts, connectivity options and more.

**Network Implementations:** Understand routing technologies and important factors of physical installations; configure switching technologies and wireless devices.

**Network Operations:** Monitor and optimize networks to ensure business continuity.

**Network Security:** Understand security concepts and network attacks to harden networks against threats.

**Network Troubleshooting:** Explain the troubleshooting methodology and address common issues related to networking, including cable, connectivity, and software problems.
