IvyCares is here to assist you with finding additional campus and community support throughout your academic journey. Sometimes called “wraparound services,” IvyCares focuses on helping students connect with resources in the following areas: emergency transportation assistance, food security, mental health resources, technology assistance, and emergency aid funding.

  • The Student Emergency Aid Fund assists students attending classes at Ivy Tech Community College through short-term financial emergencies so they can be in class, be prepared, and persist in their academic coursework. 

    Are there circumstances that have placed you in an emergency situation?  If so, I would encourage you to complete the Emergency Aid Request Form.  Please be as detailed as possible as you work through the application.  Be sure to attach any bills in which you are asking for assistance.

    Thing to keep in mind before you apply: 

    Things to keep in mind when you apply: 

    • Ivy Cares emergency funds are not available for distribution during school breaks.   
    • Decisions to award funds are made by a committee. 
    • Each applicant will receive no more than two awards during their time as a student with Ivy Tech. 
    • The committee awards funds with the following guidelines in mind (although exceptions will be considered): 
      • Students must be enrolled in at least six credit hours when they request funds. 
      • Students must have a minimum curriculum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0. 
      • Students must have exhausted other avenues for payment/assistance.
      • Students must be in good standing with the college. 
      • The student must be in an active college term.

  • The Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF), a federally funded program that provides childcare assistance to eligible low-income families, provides assistance in the form of electronic vouchers that pay for all or some of an eligible family’s childcare expenses directly to the childcare provider.

  • Everyone needs help from time to time. We know that overall wellness, including good mental health, is key to being a successful student. That’s why we have no cost counseling services available to you as an Ivy Tech Columbus Service Area student through our partnership with Family Service, Inc.  This service is provided to students at all our campus locations:  Columbus, Franklin, Greensburg, MUTC, North Vernon, Seymour, Shelbyville.  For more information, simply email Columbus-Cares@ivytech.edu. 

    No cost counseling is also available through the Tom and Barbara Schoellkopf Center at IU Columbus on the Airpark Campus. For more information, please visit: https://columbus.iu.edu/schoellkopf-center/index.html. 

  • Thanks for your interest in the loaner laptop program.  We do provide laptops to students on a short-term basis!  These laptops are meant to be a temporary solution for students until they can purchase their own laptop or make other arrangements to secure a laptop for use with school work.  As such, they must be returned at the end of each semester.

  • Thanks for your interest in the loaner hotspot program.  We do provide hotspots to students on a short-term basis!  These hotspots are meant to be a temporary solution for students until they can make other arrangements to secure internet access for use with school work.  As such, they must be returned at the end of each semester. 

    To apply for a loaner hotspot, please complete the submission form by following this link: https://ivylife.ivytech.edu/submitter/form/start/645124 

    When completing the submission form, use this email address as the reviewer:  columbus-cares@ivytech.edu. If you do not, your form will not be received by the appropriate person.  Once the submission form is completed, and has been reviewed by our department, you will receive an email stating whether or not you have been approved to receive a hotspot.
