SACA® Fluid Power

MFITHYD3

Gain Skills in Fluid Power Technology

What You’ll Learn

Introduces the student to fluid power principles and components. Teaches basic circuit design through the use of symbols and schematic diagrams to build a foundation for career work in fluid power technology. This course will use lecture, lab, and online simulation to prepare students for certification assessment through (SACA), Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA C-209 Pneumatic Systems 1 Certification).

Career Options

Working under the supervision of an engineer or engineering staff, they assemble, install, maintain, and test fluid power equipment. Fluid power is used in hundreds of applications including in agriculture, aerospace, automation construction, entertainment, green energy, health care, and robotics.

Each campus differs in how they run this course. Please contact your campus representative (below) to find out more information!

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Calculate and demonstrate the basic physics of fluid mechanics using Pascal’s Law.
  2. Describe function and construction of various fluid power components, including pumps, valves, cylinders, filters, heat exchangers, pressure regulators, and accumulators.
  3. Identify fluid power symbols and interpret fluid power schematic diagrams.
  4. Demonstrate basic fluid power plumbing.
  5. Design elementary fluid power circuits.
  6. Troubleshoot elementary fluid power circuits.
  7. Demonstrate knowledge of safety procedures related to fluid power equipment.
  8. Demonstrate ability to read and interpret technical documents.
  9. Demonstrate ability to use various types of software applicable to course.
  10. Recall fundamental content to meet/exceed the cut-score for the SACA (Smart Automation Certification Alliance) C-209 Pneumatic Systems 1 - Silver Certification.
  11. Demonstrate skills to obtain the SACA C-209 Pneumatic Systems 1 - Gold Certification at a 100% of skill standard.
