Welcome and Purpose

Welcome to the Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) owned by Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne and operated as a laboratory classroom for the Early Childhood Education Department. Our main goal is to provide high-quality learning experiences for three through five (3-5) year old children, their families and Ivy Tech Early Childhood Education students.  Our program and staff are dedicated to the effective care and education of young children, support and partnerships with families, and mentoring future early childhood educators through observation and participation opportunities.

Curriculum 

The Early Childhood Learning Center implements the HighScope approach, providing developmentally appropriate experiences to enhance the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child. Lesson plans are developed daily to match the skills and interests of the enrolled children. Children are given opportunities to choose work activities, while being supported by the adults. We believe children construct knowledge through meaningful interactions with the environment, materials, children and adults. We believe each child comes to us with knowledge, interests, skills and unique strengths and deserves teachers who recognize and support the child's potential. We intend to nurture the whole child and to partner with families and children to provide the best of care and education.
