Tony the Titan

Tony's  Story

In Spring of 2015, students were surveyed about what type of mascot they’d like to see represent them.  In the running, were Ivy Tech Lions, Ivy Tech Eagles, and the Ivy Tech Titans.

Ivy Tech Titans won, and by 2016 we started rolling out branding for the Titan persona. By the beginning of 2017 we had an established Titan logo. We also started developing physical concepts of the Titan, and by July of 2017, The Titan was born.

In September of 2019, The Titan got a name! Tony – in honor of our first Titan performer, Tony Striverson. Who passed away suddenly earlier that year.

Tony Striverson graduated in December 2017, and during his time on campus he participated in Campus Activities Board, the Titans soccer club, Student Government Association, TRIO Leadership Council, International Family, and African American Male Initiative, and he also graduated from Ivy Tech’s Student Leadership Academy. Tony’s life and legacy will forever live on through our mascot.

  • Titan will serve as a content ambassador, actively participating in marketing and social media initiatives:

    • Photo/video shoots for marketing materials
    • Frequent check-ins for content creation (schedule TBD)

    Social media-specific projects:

    • Social media trends
    • Content relating to students

    Other projects:

    • Themed photo and video shoots
  • We’re fortunate to have a really cool Titan suit, however the material doesn't allow for a large range of performer body types and sizes. In general, we take an open-minded approach into the selection process, but it is possible to be too small or too big to be able to perform safely. Tall and lean Titans typically fit the costume best. Performer safety is a priority, so a successful costume try-on is a part of the try-out process.
