We are beginning an enhancement project for Parking Lot 1. Please see below for closure information and parking options. You can also view a map here.

Project Details:

• Start Date: Monday, June 24, 2024
• Goal End Date: by the end of September

Alternative Parking Solutions

During the construction period, Parking Lot 1 will be COMPLETELY CLOSED. To minimize inconvenience, we encourage all parkers to utilize the alternative parking areas available on campus:

• Lot 3 (North of 26^th Street between Illinois St. & Capitol Ave.; see map)
• Lot 11/Parking Garage (Southeast corner of 27^th St. & Illinois St.; see map)
• Lot 12 (East of the parking garage; see map)

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• This project overlaps with the Illinois Street construction/temporary closure.
• Traffic going north on Illinois Street will be diverted onto Fall Creek Parkway.
• LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY (Ivy Tech campus included) will be allowed between Fall Creek and 29^th
• 26^th and 27^th Streets will be open to Ivy Tech for the flow of traffic between north and south streets and alternate parking lots.
• The pedestrian sidewalk on the west side of the Glick Technology Center will be OPEN. Please stay on the sidewalk and as far away from the construction as possible when going between buildings.
• Additional ADA parking spaces will be added in alternate lots.
• Signage and additional campus security will be in place to help guide you to these alternative parking locations.

We understand that this temporary change may cause some inconvenience, but we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our campus facilities.

Road Closure Information:

Citizens Energy Group implemented two road closures impacting portions of 27^th Street, 28^th Street, and access to Illinois Street back in March 2023. At that time, we were also informed that a second phase of the project would impact northbound traffic on Illinois Street. The second phase is now set to go. You can view a map here.

Phase II

Beginning on or after, Friday, May 10, construction is scheduled to restart at 28th & Illinois Streets for a duration of two to three weeks.
During the initial work, they will shift lanes, but one lane will remain open on Illinois St. (Refer to the initial map from last summer’s email – scroll down.)

Phase III

At the end of May/early June, Illinois St. will fully close.
The closure will encompass the area just north of 27th Street and extend up to 29th Street.
During this time, access to Illinois Street within this vicinity will be restricted to necessary construction activities.

To accommodate local businesses and residences in the vicinity of the closure, the intersection of Illinois Street and 29th Street will have staggered barricades in place with signage indicating "Local Traffic Only." This measure is intended to ensure that those requiring access to properties in the impacted area can do so with minimal disruption.

If traveling north from our campus, Meridian Street will be the closest/best option.

We anticipate that this closure may affect commuting routes for some members of our campus community, so we want to provide you with as much information as we know at this time. We advise all members of our campus community to plan their travel accordingly during this period, taking into consideration potential detours and alternative routes.

Glick Family Technology Building 

Effective August 11, 2023, the east side doors of the Glick Family Technology Center next to the IndyGo Red Line on Meridian Street will be exit-only moving forward. For those who use the Red Line, you will NOT be able to enter the building to cut across campus. You will need to go around the Tech Center building. (View map)
