What You’ll Learn
The English as a Second Language Career Development Training Program will provide students with the knowledge and skills to increase their proficiency with the English Language. They can also use a supplemental career training program to increase their English skills in the foundation language for a specific career. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1.) Learn effective avenues of effective communication relating to work tasks
2.) Understand how to ask for clarification of specific work duties
3.)Demonstrate effective communication with coworkers and supervisors
4.) Learn how to navigate interpersonal communication problems
5.) Identify critical individuals to assist with work difficulties
6.)Understand proper notification processes in the event of illness resulting in missed work shifts
7.)Become aware of tools generally available which could enhance workplace interactions
8.)Discuss strategies that could be shared with the employer to ease environmental acclimation
9.)Define cultural differences that could affect the workplace
