Ivy+ Healthcare Academy

The Ivy+ Summer Healthcare Academy, powered by United Healthcare, is a free program for high school students and recent high school graduates interested in health careers.

The Healthcare Academy project is intended to guide high school students interested in healthcare to direct service worker pathways through healthcare career exploration classes and programs during summer break. Participating high school students explore healthcare careers, earn Ivy Tech credit, obtain industry-recognized skills, and learn student success strategies on a college campus. The Healthcare Academy is delivered along an Ivy Tech 8-week course term and includes credit courses, skills training sessions, and other activities and site visits that can broaden student perspectives on the healthcare field.

Students will have the opportunity to earn 4.5 credits by completing the following courses during the academy:

  • IVYT 112 - Success in Healthcare
  • HLHS 104 - CPR/Basic Life Support
  • HLHS 121 - Customer Relations in Healthcare

Included in the experience, students will participate in a variety of experiences including:

  • Simulation and lab demonstrations
  • Field trip opportunity
  • Guest speakers
  • Skill trainings

Those students who maintain at least a C average in coursework and have perfect attendance will receive up to a $200 gift card at the completion of the academy.
