What are Data Center Employers Looking for?

LEADERSHIP SKILLS 
Data Centers are looking for people with leadership skills.  Amazon Leadership Principles are a good guide to follow. At Ivy Tech, we are offering the skillset called TECH SMART CORE 16 (Link coming soon) to students interested in working with these types of employers. This course is live and seats are limited - Start date is March 21, 2025.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATE
A Data Center Supply Chain Operator refers to the complex network of processes involved in procuring, managing, and delivering all the necessary components and materials needed to build, maintain, and operate a data center. This includes servers, storage devices, networking equipment, cooling systems, power supplies, and construction materials, from initial sourcing of raw materials to final installation within the data center facility. 

DATA CENTER TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE
The primary responsibility of a technician is to install, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the hardware and network infrastructure within a data center, ensuring the smooth operation of servers, storage systems, and network equipment, while upholding data security and availability. Ivy Tech offers a Data Technology Certification that will prepare students for jobs in this field.

DATA CENTER ENGINEERING OPERATIONS CERTIFICATE
Data Center Engineering Operators ensure the overall operations and maintenance of the data center. This work includes electronic, mechanical, and HVAC equipment and systems in the center. Ivy Tech will offer the Data Center Engineering Operations Certification that will lead to jobs in this field.
