As Ivy Tech Community College celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2023, Ivy Tech Indianapolis is looking back on significant moments of our past that have made our campus the most extensive and diverse in the entire Ivy Tech system. As we progress toward continued positive change and evolution, we must reflect on our past to understand where we’ve been and envision our future. So, here’s to the next 60 years of building more sufficient pathways to higher education for our community!

State, city, community leaders, staff, and faculty commenced at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis 10 years ago this September to celebrate Ivy Tech Community College’s 50th anniversary.

On Sept. 6, 2013, Ivy Tech hosted some of the state’s most influential citizens for a “50 Years of Changing Lives” gala.

“When a milestone only comes around once in a lifetime, it makes sense to honor it with a once-in-a-lifetime event,” the Spring 2013 edition of the Ivy Tech Community College Magazine read.

Sue Ellspermann, our current Ivy Tech President and then-Indiana Lieutenant Governor, was one of the many speakers that evening. Other notable speakers included former Congresswoman Susan W. Brooks, media personality Abdul-hakim Shabazz, and former Ivy Tech President Thomas J. Snyder.
